Rates and Fees

The following schedule is for legal fees as of October 1, 2008. Experts, filing fees and other expenses are in addition to any attorney fees.

As part of the initial office consultation, the hourly rates or flat fee will be quoted for most cases, as well as the amount of any necessary retainer and necessary costs. A sample proposed retainer can be provided for review prior to signing. For all divorce and family law matters, a Statement of Client's Rights and Responsibilities will be provided.

Initial Consultation, Hourly Rates, Phone Consultation

Phone Consultation for most matters: no charge
Initial Standard Office Consultation for most matters (per hour): $150
Standard Hourly Rate: $300

Separation, Prenuptial & Postnuptial Agreements

Sample Retainer

Separation Agreement - simple, no children: $850
Separation Agreement - simple, with children: $950
Separation Agreement - negotiated or complex: Hourly
Prenuptial Agreement - simple: starting at $450
Prenuptial Agreement - negotiated or complex: Hourly
Post nuptial: To be determined, usually hourly

Uncontested Divorce - Basic Divorce, no written agreement

Sample Retainer

Uncontested divorce, no children, no property, spouse signs : $800
Spouse refuses to sign but does not contest: add $100
With minor children: add $100
With adultery as grounds: add $150
Spouse's location unknown: add $1,500 or more

Uncontested Divorce - Divorce with written agreement

Sample Retainer

Conversion divorce with pre-existing agreement, no children: $850
Conversion divorce with pre-existing agreement, with children: $950
Divorce with simple mediated agreement that must be converted to a stipulation, no children: $1000
Divorce with simple mediated agreement that must be converted to a stipulation, with children: $1200
Divorce with simple uncontested stipulation prepared by attorney, no children: $1,600
Divorce with simple uncontested stipulation prepared by attorney, children: $1,800
With adultery as grounds: add $150

Household Income Qualifications:

Less than $20,000: $195

Spouse refuses to sign but does not contest: add $50
Minor Children: add $35

Under $25,000: $295

Spouse refuses to sign but does not contest: add $50
Minor Children: add $45

Under $30,000: $395

Spouse refuses to sign but does not contest: add $75
Minor Children: add $65
